The MX5 NB(FL)/MK2.5
Designed by Mazda from the ground up as a lightweight, open top , 2 seater sports car. With the classic front engine, rear wheel drive layout providing a near perfect 50/50 weight distribution. A 1.8L 4 cylinder VVTi engine & Limited Slip Differential, independent double wishbone, coil sprung suspension front & rear. These cars are agile & fun to drive out of the box so a great platform upon which to build a track car!
Track car preparation
In order for our cars to handle the rigours of the race track, we follow the
4 simple Formula Fun principles:-
1. Does it make the car go?
2. Does it make the car stop?
3. Does it make the car go round a corner?
4. Does it make the car safer?
All our cars are fully stripped back to make them as light as is practicable. All items refitted are either fully refurbished or replaced with uprated/motorsport parts.
They are UK road registered/legal with a valid MOT certificate.
Go
We leave the engine standard. Just a flush to clean it, new high quality oil & filter, new cam belt & water pump for reliability.
Remove the OEM airbox, replace with a relocated cone filter & bonnet duct to give a great induction noise.
Exhaust centre resonator replaced with a straight pipe & free flow back box fitted.
Stop
Brake calipers fully refurbished with new seals & slide pins.
Braided flexi lines & high boiling point fluid.
Grooved/ cross drilled discs.
Performance pads.
Corner
All wishbones removed, bushes extracted, sand blasted & painted, poly bushes fitted.
Height adjustable, multi way damping coilovers with track rated springs installed.
Safety
In addition to the uprated braking & handling of the car, driver/passenger safety is a MUST!
FiA approved racing bucket seats accompanied by FiA approved 4 point racing harnesses are fitted.
Roll over protection is provided by a MSA approved roll bar.
